Senior Deonte Burton has been invited to attend the Portsmouth Invitational in Portsmouth, Virginia from April 12th-15th. The event is essentially a senior showcase where 64 of some of the best seniors in the country are invited to show off their skills in hopes to gain interest from NBA teams. Last season Abdel Nader and Jameel McKay were invited to the showcase, where Nader gained some exposure and was able to hear his name called last season in the NBA draft. Burton was also recently selected to play in the 2017 Reese’s College All-Star game, one of only 20 senior players selected to do so. That event will take place March 31st in Phoenix, Arizona. Burton finished his career with the Cyclones strong scoring 25 points against the Purdue Boilermakers on the national stage of the NCAA Tournament, after averaging 15.1 points and 6.2 rebounds a game this year. He was also only the second player in school history to have 40 steals and 40 blocks in the same season.
