ISU Football: Senior Joel Lanning’s New Position

With the Iowa State Football Spring game quickly approaching, news about Cyclone football is buzzing around Ames. Some of the most recent news has really caught a few people off guard. When the Spring game kicks off in a couple weeks Senior Joel Lanning won’t be the captain of the Cyclone offense, but will be of the Cyclone defense. Head Coach Matt Campbell made the decision to move the 225 pound athlete from quarterback to the possible starting mike linebacker when the season comes around. Lanning’s size, athleticism and football IQ has really helped him make a smooth transition to the defensive side of the ball. Come out to Jack Trice Stadium and watch the new Iowa State football team during their spring game April 8 at 1 p.m., admission will be free to the public.
